home again

and lots of stuff to do. We're having a NYE party in 2 days

Havoc and I are going to get hair cuts & then go grocery shopping while DH & Mayhem clean up outside & get the bonfire pile started with the various dead trees he cut down last month. We have wrap the gift for the kids coming to the party & assemble the gift bags for the adults for our gift exchanges.

We took over 500 photos over vacation! I need to go through those. I also scanned over 200 photos from my parents albums & those need to be dealt with.  I did manage to scrap a few layouts while in FL. I need to get them uploaded & linked & then figure out just where I am with my Journal Your Christmas album. Plus the 365 Project is nearing the end & I need to sort out the past 10 days worth of photos & retouch them.

I think I will probably end up putting all that off until the kids are back in school next week

The boys are playing Lego Star Wars (which honestly, is a bit beyond Mayhem, resulting in frustration on both their parts). I have laundry going.

I'll be back in a day or so with a recap of our holiday visit and the long long long trip home.

I thought I was too late to sign up for it because I was a couple days behind on reading Mel’s blog, but then she contacted me and asked if I could do a post about punctuation. Punctuation? Yes. Weekly Winners Aug 24-30

Mayhem decided to take up knitting this week. He found he had plenty of time to knit in the car while we ran errands Oops! Dropped a stitch The dinosaurs were very busy the other afternoon. Once again they requested muffins and they pitched in to make them. Though there was some conflict over who got to stir. Rumors of muffins attracted other dinosaurs And there was some more conflict over control of the bowl The winners circle the bowl in a victory dance But they shouldn't celebrate too soon, because over on the kitchen table trouble is brewing. A month or so ago I cleaned out my freezer . Yesterday I cleaned my refrigerator. This is a different thing than just cleaning it out. Cleaning it out mostly involves taking most of the food off of the shelves, sorting it and putting the good stuff back. Maybe wiping up some visible spills. But not getting behind or under things or dealing with the bottles on the door. Cleaning it involves taking all the food out, all the bins out, plus disassembling the shelves and scrubbing them & the inside of the fridge all clean. This happens as rarely as the freezer cleaning for much the same reasons – it’s cold, my hands cramp up from the scrubbing and the solid yet still gel like substances that accumulate in dark forgotten corners are a PITA to get clean. Plus the heavy tempered glass shelves are too big to fit in the kitchen sink and have to be washed in the bathtub. Which means I then I have to wash the bathtub. And mop.
