I have a rather large stack of books on my nightstand, the photo of which I can’t find right now and the camera battery is currently charging, so let me just say it is currently 12 books tall and doesn’t include the 3 I read over the weekend. I mentioned last week that I was crocheting some apples. Here they are I think they turned out rather nice if I do say so myself. But being the sort who can’t leave well enough alone and who loves to anthropomorphize things (I think that is the word) plus being in possession of more googly eyes than any one person should be allowed to own, I did this   They look kinda creepy sitting there on your desk, staring out at you. Stalker apples. So I added a mouth   Happy  apples. I believe I have mentioned in the past that I like to crochet. Unlike many people who knit or crochet, this is not a fall or winter weather hobby for me.  I crochet in the summer. I am much too busy on the internet in the fall & winter to sit down & crochet. Summer is swimming season.  I sit out on the porch, under the 70% shade cloth & watch the kids in the pool. My high gloss screen laptop is useless in these conditions. I can’t see a darn thing on it in daylight. So I crochet instead. Back in March I showed you all this The 1000 yard skein of yarn I was rolling into a ball prior to crocheting it into a shawl. Eventually it became this And I started working on the shawl yesterday at long last. I’ve finished this much so far Hmm… that needs something to give a sense of scale… What can I use… Oh yeah It’s granny T-Rex I’ll be posting periodic updates as it gets larger. Someday I hope for it to fit me.

I've been scrapping a lot this week. But I can't show you what I have been doing yet. I can say that Traci Reed has something great coming this weekend at SSD and Kim Hill has some really nice stuff coming to Scrapbook Elements at the end of the month. I've also gone through my crochet patterns & have some holiday ones in the works. Right now I am crocheting fruit & veggies to sit in my fruit bowl now that fresh local fruit season is over. I also have a snowman in a couple different sizes to do and I am making little poppets, one of each of us, for xmas tree ornaments. though I am still deciding on how to do the hair. And of course Mayhem is still nagging me about the crochet dinosaurs he wants. I've sorted through the toddler bedsheets for the quilts, the ones I made, the ones I bought, plus the additional kiddie fabric I bought intending to make into sheets. That'd be sarcasm, BTW I finished the amigurumi octopus for Havoc. He chose the rainbow colored yarn for it. I've been experimenting with how to create different shape effects with amigurumi and I created a bunch of mushrooms while doing it. Then I decided to focus on making something for a friend to keep the bad energy away and I made this traffic cone Then I got my hands on some googly eyes and the mushrooms gained some personality. The traffic cone became an angry traffic cone I think he is just the cutest thing ever. The traffic cone came about as a result of 2 things. I like to crochet. It is my longest lasting hobby. I learned to crochet from my maternal grandmother when I was 7 and have been doing it off and on ever since. I have a newer hobby as well. I am a digital scrapbooker. I started digi scrapping in 2005. I've always liked the idea of scrapbooking but it just seemed so much work to get all those supplies out, not too mention the issue of having an infant & toddler underfoot, so I would constantly be having to put everything away. There was the storage issue and the costs of supplies. I have no space for all the paper, ribbons, buttons, die cutters, etc and no income to buy them. The biggest issue though was scissors. I am not good with scissors. I can't cut a straight line to save my life. A friend of mine discovered digital scrapbooking in Aug 2005 and sent me some links to Digital Scrapbook Place .
